Well done finding issue
I think the 5 speed M3W is a special case with electrics given the vibration especially at idle and thats without TSM consideration.
I think latter contains the logic to inhibit rear fog unless headlamps on and maybe the dip/main toggle as units full title was headlamp and turn signal module. The only function I could find directly operated by stalk was the main beam flash. For this reason I always thought TSM interpreted other stalk functions as well. Alistair would give you the full list of its functions.
