& there's the intriguing possibility they'll put the hybrid powertrain into the RX9
Now *that* would be something to replace an i8 (said the hybrid i8 owner ;-) )

Wankel engines are essentially very sophisticated 2 stroke motors, or constand loss 4 stroke engines.
I had the use of a Norton Rotary motorbike: brilliant, smooth, refined but it used 2L oil per 20L petrol....
Unless Mazda has made a lot of progress I don't see any Wankel motor meeting modern emission requirements...
