Big risk of condensation and consequent water in your fuel if draining tank and leaving empty. Safer to fill the tank with quality fuel and/or stabilisers if you really cant drive in winter. My experience is that there are usually plenty of fine days in winter to enjoy a run on salt free roads.
This. A full tank is less likely to degrade. The only time I had trouble was with an almost empty tank, and that was way back in the 90s.
