I think I'm older than you Dave so “old school” has a different meaning
This MFU thingy that our Duratecs have appears mostly unnecessary electronic nonsense, to me. Let’s just take one example, the fuel gauge. In the olden days the fuel gauge worked with just a gauge reading the resistance of the sender unit. Well now we have the MFU using the same gauge and the same sender but with the added benefit of a microcontroller in between! The sender reports to the micro and the micro appears to spit out a PWM signal to the gauge. At least that’s my understanding looking at the circuit but please please somebody tell me I’m wrong... How can this be progress? Do fuel gauges work any better these days?
