It should be possible to do a heater high/low speed function test along with the heated screen using a link wire on the flying 12 way Dashboard Connector (the one in the pic above).

To test the heater hi/low speed, link the fused (+) supply pin.4 to pins 8 and then 12.

And for the heated screen pin.3 and pin.7

Whilst in testing mode it might be prudent to do a bit more checking on the car? Probably worth probing the PCB's flying 15 way header connector with a multi-meter. These are the inputs coming into the PCB so may help indicate if there is a fault elsewhere in the car. Maybe worth checking at least your suspect functions.
