Unless the switch requires only a small adjustment I would disconnect the switch lead bullet connectors and with locknut released twist switch until contact is just made with reverse selected. This can be measured across switch leads using a multimeter in "continuity" mode. It then needs to be screwed in a small amount to ensure the reverse lights come on reliably. GoMog suggest 180° clockwise, before tightening locknut and re-attaching switch leads.

Next question will be: where exactly are the bullet connectors?
If inaccessible without tearing the covers out again, I would be tempted to snip them off and resolder after adjusting, or insert a couple of new bullets to re join the cut ends.
