Does your GTN have the dark dash or a silver one?

If you are looking for something retro but functional, I have used one of these in a modern classic:

Whilst they lack the 'silver art deco look', they benefit from the lack of flashing screens and neon-esque features of many modern ICE units, which I was keen to avoid in a Morgan as well as any classic car. Blaupunkt offer other retro versions but I felt the Bremen was the closest to what I wanted for the particular classic I was fitting it to.

However, the also offer the:

And I see a Hamburg is in the works, although this seems less 'Morgan' to me and more 80s JDM:

If you want more of the deco look, I've heard reasonable things about these (they offer various cosmetic versions, not just the first photo in the link):

Personally, all I want is something that streams music/radio/etc from my phone, so as long as it looks good and does that, I don't need anything more.

Thanks Simon, dark dash on the GTN.
Some really great options here that I like the look of - will definately be doing some research on these! cheers

Whilst it is quite costly, it brings together some nice tech in a single din radio. The Universal version is the one to look at. If I recall correctly, Porsche used to offer this as well Mercedes for their classic range. There is a decent forum thread I can send if interested.

These do look nice, do they all say Jaguar when they boot up though? laugh2
Yes please do send it over, always good to read/research.

It had all the key bits, bluetooth to iPhone, DAB+ and it looked smart against the black finish turned dash in mine.

It had a couple of limitations.
4 way speaker outputs but the internal amp was quite weak if you like to hear when driving
Only 2 way pre-AMP level outputs (not high power pre-output so you need an amp with good input gain)

You could use the internal amp for the fronts and the pre-out to power an additional amp for the rear IIRC but do check if this is what you are after.
The smaller 4x6 in the front of the Aero door cards cannot take too much power, if you have the door cards off they are worth uprating.
The speaker cable is also worth replacing however getting anything through the door pillar bundles without risk of long term abrasion is difficult.

I have the Becker Indianapolis in the S2 and it looks more integrated so perhaps don't fixate on a Unicorn and consider a different Becker ? Just an idea?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265720728979? It has a good 4 way built in amp as well.

Thanks Alistair, this thread has definately changed my mind on those units - espicially considering how well priced some of the other units are and how good they look.

Interesting regarding the specs, I think I will upgrade the headunit first (and get something more in keeping with the car) and then see how it sounds and go from there. smile
