Unique style and voice
Didn’t catch much of his radio 2 afternoon show but I was a regular listener to his Radio 1 show back in the late 80’s
We had it on the radio in the design studios when I was at college
I remember Mr Angry who was voiced by his engineer at the time and part of his ‘afternoon Posse’ and gave a moving tribute to him on Radio 5 on Monday.
Apparently he was a perfectionist and worked on his show all day and evening and was loved by everybody he worked with
Also remember a crazy item in his radio show called ‘Factoids’ where he gave false funny facts and one was memorable where he claimed Bob Holness played the saxophone on Baker Street which I think still is still doing the rounds after 30 years
