Is there any way that they would accept less but a higher per unit cost so they still see profit overall, not wanting to give them carte blanche but...
I believe the S1.5 wheels (5 spoke, 5 stud) you're referring to were also magnesium, and those are different hubs to the earlier S1's and also the later S2 onwards.
Magnesium wheels just don't belong on a road car.
