Chap selling a set on Facebook.
I’d love a spare but really don’t need a set.
Anyone else?

He’s asking for offers over £2k for the set, which I guess is about right?

They’re fitted with Pirelli tyres but aged out (2014).

Thanks, for the wheel - and the tea and chat! Really appreciated, and let me know if you ever get to need the spare before I do.

I’ve enquired with 2 OZ wheel importers on what the minimum order of wheels would be for them to make the original magnesium wheels again. I have no idea how many they’ll come back with, even if they would be willing. Once I get a reply I’ll let you guys know. If it’s not an insane amount maybe all us series 1 owners could get together for a group buy. I’ll keep you in the loop with what I hear.

I am sorry to hear that you have had to use the spare.
I would be interested to hear what your exploring reveals - I would be up for buying any that end up surplus to requirements (I have a repaired pair on the car at the moment), or perhaps even going in if a credible alternative can be made. Let me know if I can help.
Just as an aside, I have been trying to find out where some of the suspension rose joints/ball joints, and the track rod rose joints, come from - so I might be able to share that if I make progress. If those parts can be sourced easily it might make a heavier wheel more practical?

That would be me - was taking my car (and the spare damaged wheel) to a place in Lymington where they make (from aluminium billet) wheels.
We took one of my front wheels off so we could scan the brakes and hub carrier, and took myriad measurements from my wheel.
Very helpful chap said he'd put together the CAD stuff and get back to me within a few weeks.

Turns out a bare 9x18 magnesium wheel weighs 8.4kg. He's confident he can get very close to that in aluminium in a near identical design so that we can keep the aesthetics.

If an aluminium wheel can be made which is comparable in weight to the magnesium wheels i see no downside to this change.
