I recently did something similar and it was completed on-line and, more or less, straight away.
Your 'old' car will probably get the original registration back - so if you have saved the old plates, jobs an orange root vegetable
V5 arrived by post in a couple of days (
) but attaching registration was immediate.
No guarantees with the above as there are sometimes unexpected delays, but perhaps worth checking out....?
