The locksmith came today & quoted £150 to repair it. I declined but he did tell me how he would do it starting with pliers on a blank key to turn the tumbler. I thought nothing ventured etc on the old lock so applied force to the key and hey ho it is free.
I doused it in bike chain lube and stood it upright to allow drainage. A shed load of gunk came out. I suspect some grit had got in.

It is all back together & working but I'll keep the spare to be safe.
