When working on the Morgans I have always gone by the "Keep It Simple" principle in dealing with problems so thought I would share my latest example.
My 1964 4/4 developed an intermittent high pitched squeal from the engine area, everyone advised me it was the clutch/throw out bearing which requires the engine being removed and money for parts. Before I started on that I applied my Keep It Simple mantra so checked the fan belt, still no improvement then removed the belt and the noise went away, so water pump or dynamo. Removed the dynamo (which was the easiest to do) and when turning by hand could hear an occasional faint squeak so applied 3 in One oil and hey presto the squeal has gone. Well that saved me much time effort and money. However, I might treat myself to a Dynalite Lucas C10 Alternator as the dynamo is probably on its way out anyway and the alternator is better.
