Today I had the chance to look at a drilling site for the Eavor Loop. They are drilling 4500m vertical and another 3000m lateral water channels in 12 x 4 Loops. Means more than 300km drilling as an investment. After that the thermal energy from the deep does all the energy to operate the thing and they estimale to get a steady 64MW for heating or 8 MW electricity from that drilling with very little operating cost and nearly no clean up.
Getting rid of the soil seems not to be without side effects but at the end one will see very little left from the technology...
