There are providers of new hoods, but they state that they need the old hood as a template.
Firstly, I am very sorry for your friend's loss. You are correct it is a very strange thing to happen, annoying for Rune and unlikely to be of any use to the thief.
As to replacement, there are many good trimmers here in the UK who will make a new hood but in my experience, they will all want
the car for a few days to fit the hood onto. I've never spoken to one who wanted the old hood as a template, quite the opposite in fact.
Good luck anyway. Perhaps the insurance will pay for a trip to the UK if no one there can do it?
