Narrow body Plus 8. Chassis laid down December 1969 . Completed, registered and released April 1970. Engine rebuilt by John Eales about three thousand miles ago. Gearbox rebuilt by J B Sports about eight hundred miles ago. Wood and metal rot free. Comprehensive history file. The narrow body version of the plus 8 was the first and most pure that Morgan built. They didn't make many before they became wider, longer, heavier and with time more complicated, with petrol injection, engine management systems, unfathomable electronics and now a weird glue that is used to stick the car together. Now , if your newish Morgan packs up and you glide to a stop on the hard shoulder of a motorway -if there is no hard shoulder prepare to die- a call is required to Morgan dealer who will recover the car and hand it to a wet behind the ears "technician" who will wire the car to a computer which will identify a small box hiding somewhere deep within the car that has failed. That little box will be unplugged, a new little box will replace it and hey presto...an eye watering Invoice is presented.
Members will guess by now that I'm not a fan of modern cars and it would great if the forum could attract members with an interest in the older cars. Pre seventies cars are fixable, at minimal cost, if you have some basic knowledge, a few tools, some overalls and don't mind getting dirty hands. Getting back to the car I'm advertising, if anybody is interested in viewing the Morgan I would be more than happy to show the car and go through the very interesting history that was researched and compiled by the previous owner. With regards to the price for the Morgan, I have to state that the car stands me in approximately £44k however, I realise that the market is slow at the moment so I am open to any offer that is satisfactory to the buyer and me.
