It is my own plan. I walked the route using the Measurement tool on Google Maps zooming into Street View to have a look at the more remote roads and that is how I came to 4690 Miles.

Street View is also good for checking out overnight stopping places and the car parking available.

It took a while to do but I enjoyed that part. Call me a Geek or a Sad Fool. Either fits .
