Teslas’ lack of required maintenance is indeed amazing and paves the way to a much better future. My Model S had a prepaid service contract and they refunded it in full when they decided there was no need for any servicing!
Porsche, on the other hand, are a complete nightmare. Their dealers appear to be randomly inventing stuff — VERY expensive stuff. Quotes for the first service on a new Taycan vary wildly from £400 to £1500 (!). This is because they are including a check of drains which is “optional but if you don’t do it your warranty may be voided” — a great extortion scheme. Some just pour water in but others take off wheels — just to inspect, The Taycan community suspects this behaviour is a combination of vehicles designed with no eye on cost, and a dealer network which needs to be kept alive with a stream of service “opportunities”. And don’t start with wheel tracking etc, which also require parts of the car to be removed and can cost over £1000.
I am really hoping my new Morgan finds a nice spot between these extremes!
