As suggested David if the switch is there its not a dummy so potentially could be re-purposed. On later models such logic latching switches have four connections as shown below. I believe the later versions of 2006 to 2014 trads employed similar.

The connections correspond to two main contacts and internal LED illumination dim or full brighness, the latter to indicate the selection is active. The problem is, from a mechanical point of view, they have only momentary contacts with the latching on or off performed by external circuitry which adds a whole level of extra complexity unless you can delve into your existing PCB and re-employ the circuitry the switch currently controls. Four the record the simplest single button non IC latching system requires four relays!
