I use Hiya on my mobile which traps most spam calls. For some reason it sometimes comes up with a false positive when a real courier is trying to contact me for a delivery. If I am expecting something I call back and then report the number as "not spam".
I have finished up banning a whole range of numbers that come from a Swiss service provider. Almost all are non-existant spoofed numbers or if the answer there is silence indicating that it is part of a bank of automatic callers. Since I have very few friends in Switzerland and none of them have that number prefix I have banned all numbers that start with +41779
If someone that uses that service provider really wants to contact me I am sorry but they are going to have to find another way. In any case anyone in my telephone contacts is automatically white listed.
I tend to block and report numbers of spammers even though I know they are spoofed and will change after a short period. This may help others by blocking calls from that number before the spammer changes it.
Also here in Italy we are on a list of "objection" to unwanted calls but it makes no difference. They have talked about banning spoofing but nothing has happened there either. Another law that has been discussed is that all call centres must use a designated prefix but this obviously creates problems for call centres that are set up to provide required assistance over the phone.
