What reg are you looking at?
The early ones have an older version of the software that is very buggy and VW have yet to figure out how to update it, even though they claimed it's future proof.
I've had two ID5, same architecture, software etc and it was the early version which drove me bonkers. It always did a reset at the worse time, never remembered my settings etc.
Outside of those annoying niggles, I truly enjoyed how quiet and relaxed it was to drive. I can't recall the name they gave it but there is more intelligence baked into the car that automatically starts to slow you down as you come to a roundabout, when the speed limit changes or you are approaching a car at a lower speed. This wasn't the Adaptive Cruise Control but something else. It isn't intrusive whatsoever and actually made doing mundane errands much more relaxed, when I chose to let it do its thing.
The ID3 has also had a few interior updates since launch to make up the poor feedback it received when launched.
There is a lot of useful info here -
VW ID ForumA co-worker has a more current ID4 and he's not experiencing any issues.
Good luck!
