Many thanks to Gary (Hawki of this Parish) for arranging this great day out. I can't improve on the excellent pictures above so will just add the Duxford Consolidated PBY5A Catalina was one of the more numerous builds of this version for the RAF during WW2. Call sign appropriately G-PBYA
Engines were a pair of P&W R-1830-92 twin wasp (two rows of 7 radial cylinders) developing 1200hp each.
Fuel load was a total of near 1500 imp gallons giving up to 30 hours in the air.
Our membership of the Catalina Society gave us entry to other static exhibits, restoration hangars, the IWM US aircraft and tank museum a short walk away. It's valid throughout the year so we plan to be back as there's so much to see.
