Something has just occurred to me: my Simmonds soft top doesn't leak in the rain, but for winter use it would be nice if it was a bit more robust. Would it be at all feasible to make up a set of semi-stiff insulating panels which could line the inside to make it warmer and quieter?

That way you wouldn't have the problem of fit as they wouldn't have to be millimetre perfect, and they'd be a lot easier to store come the summer. Come the winter you just put the hood up and spend 20 minutes or whatever securing the panels in place, then take them out in spring to go back to having a proper convertible hood.

How to secure them to the inside of the hood though? A combination of velcro and a lightweight inner frame perhaps? Hmmm.
