A possibility based on a type of build under license or sub contract.
The detail is the key, though. Exemption for small volume manufacturers? What components would a US builder use? The tariffs would apply to built cars being imported but what about components used to build them? I think tariffs will apply to component imports too.
Bill Fink modified cars for US sales getting round a lot of the regulations so is there scope for that again?
I hope so as the US market would be a significant boost, even at limited numbers.
I could see US engines being used but there are a lot of bespoke parts. Body, chassis, all others. I wonder how different would a US car be to a Malvern built car. How much OE Malvern spec parts could be incorporated into a US assembled car without incurring tariff charges to over price the car?
Colin Chapman started selling Lotus 7 cars as kits that avoided taxes that applied at that time. Maybe modern tax/tariff laws would allow similar.
I would imagine MMC would be looking for every option to mitigate tariffs' effects.
