As Peter suggested The Logis book helped us find accommodation while travelling through France.
My good lady did all the organisation for our trips, but it was a tip from Spanner Juggler of this parish that made her task so much simpler to operate on a day by day basis while travelling through France and on down to Sorrento in our +8.... He suggested that he ever used the local tourist offices in whichever town or city he was heading for...?
A fun example was having just emerged from a traffic foul up through a very hot Naples we pulled over on a hillside viewpoint overlooking the coastline to Sorrento, at the time a mobile phone was no more than that, and my good lady phoned her sis in law in Scotland, asked her to look for the telephone number of the Sorrento tourist office and then to phone back with the number, which she did thus perhaps 10 mins later my good lady phoned the Sorrento tourist office, and tourist offices tend to have a staff member who can converse in English, My good lady asked the keen to be helpful chap if he could find a hotel with secure parking, a swimming pool, a room with a balcony and a view over the Bay of Naples, The chap asked and when would madam want the room for.... and he was quite surprised when she replied tonight..!!! He replied he was sure he could find somewhere and would phone back, which he did and the place had all that was specified....
In fact My good lady often used that process to to book accommodation on a day by day basis while touring, sometimes visiting the tourist office in the morning and in whatever town we stayed in the night before.
