On the front number plate issue, what is the experience of the vintage guys? Has anyone been fined for no front number plate? If it is a big issue, maybe I just go with black and white plates. Any advice would be appreciated, even if it is don't do it!
As far as I know, no one has been fined, but then, no one does it either! I have seen a rally plaque covering the front plate but that's as close as it gets.
The display of the wrong colour plates is again something we don't do in the historic world as all are allowed the earlier style anyway. Not unknown in the four wheeler world and you probably stand a better chance of getting away with it as ANPR will have no problems. But you won't pass a MOT 3 years down the line as number plates are part of it now.
You also have a further risk factor, although I've never heard of DVLC doing it without a warning - you could get your personalised number cancelled and taken back.
