Thank you all for your positive reactions. I do not get notifications via email of new posts, something that I think I have opted for in settings..
At top of the thread there's a tab that says Thread options. Next to it is an icon that looks like a flag or ticket. Click in that and you'll subscribe to the thread and get notifications. Seems to work better than the email thing in settings.
