Hi all. Currently doing a steel to wire wheel conversion on my 1975 4/4 with a Salisbury 7HA rear axle. I’ve got the new hubs and I’m about to order bearings for the front, but I’ve never stripped the hub off of a Salisbury axle before and I’m a little unclear as to what I’m going to find. I understand that it’s a tapered fitment so I assume I’m going to need to replace the bearings. Can I remove the hub without removing the half shaft? If I need to replace the hub bearings I’m assuming I then need to check the end float. If this is the case, what sort of shims are needed and where can I buy a kit? Many thanks in advance!
