I have thought of trying to make one but not delved into it yet.
Mine broke too. Replaced with a couple of ‘slipperier’ homemade belt skids.

As I often worked with PP, PC, glasfiber I made a new one to replace my broken one of small sheets of black ABS.

ABS or PC is often offered on ..bay.
You can cut it with a sissor on and drilling the hole is no problem.
10 minutes work and cheap as......
