Excellent link Zach! Silicone is indeed a better automotive coolant hose type than rubber. Rubber inevitably fails in many weird ways, and more so with cars that get stored for long periods. To reduce the number of junctions (wisdom Luddite imparted to me 25 years ago)
one is best to buy your engine hose kit .
Aesthetically, I admit to avoiding coloured silicone. I use black North Americans are different in seeing the engine bay as aesthetically important as the exterior.
While in the hose area, it should be mentioned that PTFE hose lines with braided stainless steel sheathing for petrol, oil, brake and clutch fluid, coupled with AN fittings (adding a couple at the bulkheads..thank you Lance) is superb for a number of reasons. BTW, they now come in a more discrete black nylon exterior covering the ss and that that makes them pass for rubber THESE products are infinitely strong and fireproof. They will also not all rip off in an impact.
Their installation is not difficult once you figure how to attach AN fittings to such lines. However, most Morgan sellers (UK) will do the attaching for you for very little, but get the lengths right! L. (wryly)
