Don't forget that £39.500 is still an enormous amount of money - well in excess of the national average salary. It you combined the values of my Mog, MG, 2 x Harleys and Kawasaki I'd still be over £10K shy of that amount.
My expectation has never been to make or even retain money on a Morgan, or indeed any classic car. Or pretty much any form of transport (think horses, boats and aircraft !) The only things I think I have successfully earned money from are investments in education and bricks and mortar.
Completely agree, and any earnings on the house are largely irrelevant as I'll probably never reap any benefit unless I have to release equity in my dotage.
My education has cost me a bit over the years, but have had the benefit of an amazing career which may not have had the best financial rewards, but more than made up for it in fulfilment and self worth.
