Why "unengaged"?
If you cut a spring you increase its rate. When the rebound and main springs are both compressed, the stiffness is greater as previous with this non cutted spring.
I guess you use "progressive neoprene or microcellular polyurethane stops" (silent blocks?) instead of rebound springs. Could you provide the dimensions and photos. It is very interessing.
