My first 1978 2CV had inboard drums. I recall the redundant spark and finding it easier to completely remove engine to adjust contact breaker, assuming there was a simpler way that I couldn't see at the time.
There was no need to take out the whole engine. The contact breakers were behind the fan and not hard to get at. Later modeld had inboard front disk brakes with forced cooling from the engine fan.
