Further update 18 9 26.
I think I'm getting to the bottom of it. Fuel pressure from cold is 50ish PSI from key on to 1st crank, it starts instantly. Same again for any immediate (cold) restarts within 30 seconds. Meanwhile, on engine stop fuel pressure decays to zero after about 10 secs - its just that it comes back immediately when the engine is cold.
However, once engine at 100C stop and immediate restart is OK, BUT wait 5 mins and it cranks at zero fuel pressure for about 10 seconds. Starts as soon as Fuel Pressure comes up.
My diagnosis is that once engine is hot fuel pressure decay is allowing fuel to vaporise and back fill the feed pipe with gas. (If the pressure did not bleed away the fuel would vapourise at a much higher tempratures). Once the pipe is full of vapour (and probably the pump as well) it's taking 10 secs to purge and re pressurize in order to start.
Meanwhile, there's no petrol smells from the oil or black smoke on restart (so no leaky injectors - I hope !)
I'm due to visit the Factory on Wednesday next week ..... have asked if they can supply a new in tank pump assembly in the hope that the non return valve on mine is at fault.
