Further update 18 9 26. I'm due to visit the Factory on Wednesday next week ..... have asked if they can supply a new in tank pump assembly in the hope that the non return valve on mine is at fault.

1. These valves are referred to as, "non-return", "one-way" or "check" valves. Long experience has taught me that these valves and other such thingies are better fit separately. However, for some time, the automobile industry prefers to use assemblies pf many components as it forces large purchases rather than small and eliminates expensivce labour (which they must pay for during the warranty period). Of course, it makes the cars less reliable and makes it harder on owners after the warranty expires. The separate component, in this case the whatever-you-want-to-call-it valve are seriously cheap and available anywhere for 4 quid in a range of pretty colors
I am saying that you could test your theory in a few minutes and 4£. 2. 98% of automotive repair difficulty is diagnosis. The rest is grunt work.
With your symptoms, your fault options are:
A. failed whatever valve
(but in my experience your car would have died on the nearest long steep hill) B. leaky injector (s)
C. A leaky fuel line
, but then you would have marked your spot. I have written out the fuel pressure regulator as you are running well.
