As I've already aired on this site I have very happy memories of the 2CV I owned when we lived down in the Lot et Garonne (a 1972 2cv4). In very many ways it was inferior to the Renault 4 in which I learned to drive (and of which my father was a serial buyer-over the years he must have owned half a dozen R4's from new) The 2CV had such charm however, it was the perfect vehicle for bimbling around the countryside in the sunshine with the roof rolled back. I've always been amazed by how quickly they seemed to disappear from the roads of France after production ended; maybe that's just because we moved up to the Paris area, but I suspect that the barns and garages of rural france are full of them. I'd not like to have an accident in one mind you.
