Good points about the zips and the buckles on the sleeves.
The Jacket I have has internal pockets that are cleverly worked to use the shape of the external pockets and their inner lining. Very hard to describe. In any case they have openings you can just get a hand in and then become wider inside. I assume to help stop anything accidently falling out if you are upside down.
