Some years ago I was diagnosed with angina. It came as a shock and, with a young family to support, it's fair to say it was not a good time for me.
During the long recovery from bypass surgery I read a magazine interview with Carroll Shelby. He described how he drove at Le Mans on a diet of nothing but Coca-Cola and nitro-glycerine pills to control his angina. It made me realise that having a heart condition need not be a barrier to enjoying life. It changed my outlook.
R.I.P. Carroll. Sad to see you go but happy you had such a long and active life.
