Some of these laws are useful like a spare bulb kit on board makes complete sense.
However there are limitations.......if the French equivalent of the HSE seriously believe that making motorcyclists wear high vis vests next year and that it will stop the " Sorry mate I didn't see you brigade " from pulling out from junctions not looking or just generally giving no consideration to other road users then they are completely mistaken.
This has laughably been watered down from a high-vis vest to a reflective item of clothing. The reflective area must be on the upper body and cover at least 150 square centimetres. An arm band should sort it. I'm going to chop up an old reflective waistcoat from work and velcro it. That should get me to the Belgian border.
