Hi - I am going to France at the end of the week. I am still struggling to understand where to put the convertors (bought at Halfords) or some black tape on the headlight. I have +4 from 2008. I saw the picture on a forum from 2010 with the tape on the left side of the headlamp (when facing the car), but I would have put the black tape on the other side of the headlamp. Could someone please confirm / post pictures ? Many thanks Guillaume

Don't bother, you'll never get stopped if you haven't got them.

I fiited them to the left hand side of the headlights. Looking through all my photos of my LeMans Classic trip I saw I only one other car with deflectors on...another Morgan. I'm not sure I'd bother again.

Hi gq, My 2011 plus 4 has Wipac headlamps. Looking at the headlamp from the from, the tape would be placed on the left hand side of the lens. The tape should cover the area above the sloping baseline, on the bottom left hand side of the lens. Both lenses should be taped in the same manner. FYI, I checked the halfords instructs pamphlet for this info.

just done my 3rd European tour, based on the theory I would probably not be driving the MOG in the evenings, I have never fitted them.

I don't drive at night in Mainland Europe either, but for the sake of 5 minutes work and 8 inches of sticky tape, I always tape up the headlights.
It shows willing, reduces the reasons for being stopped, and just seems the polite thing to do somehow.

The purpose of the tape is to mask the upward cutoff of the light pattern. Check the light pattern against the grage door or a flat surface You will see the light pattern rising to the left hand side as you look from the car. It is that light that would shine at the European driver, and it is that part of the pattern that you are masking off.

Here you go...bit of black tape is all you need..it was fun watching our fellow travellers struggle with the clear ones from Halfrauds and also the Ferry Shop! I believe that the logic is the tape masks the opposite side as it acts as a 'lens' so effects the other side (if you see what I mean?)

Yes, that's how it should be.

According to a flyer from P&O ferries- beam adaptors must be fitted for both day and night time driving or YOU RISK INVALIDATING YOUR INSURANCE. What's a few quid (or 5mins with black tape) compared with all the other expenses and arrangements for a continental trip? Gerry ps don't forget your breathalysers for France.
