Hi Michael, Thanks for your account of the breakdown in Europe, nothing short of a nightmare. Hopefully the engine was a warranty replacement. You would think with the Mercedes link the whole customer relations thing would be a bit sharper. I guess my SIL's Roadster being 5yrs old (10,000mls) it maybe doesn't have the start stop on it. I don't want to alarm him unnecessarily as it could take away the fun factor for him. When we go to Goodwood I stay over with my daughter and him in Kings Hill we travel in the Roadster and he hustles it along in a way that surprised me. Richard

Hi John, After reading Michael's account I think hiring them as you guys did is the best option. Bosher's has the Brabus one I think and he seems to like it well enough. The neighbours daughter had a 51 plate and things kept falling off it mostly plastic bits, the final straw being the turbo ingested bits of itself. Richard

hi chaps, the smart warranty was ok, a new engine was fitted, but being dumped in switzerland with the wife and two pugs for in temps of 36c or more at times was just not fun at all, so this is the last smart we will ever own. michael

I can't understand how a smart roadster (and I used to own one) can be quicker than a 4/4. The smart roadster 0-60 time is well over 10 secs and the Brabus is 9.9 I believe. Morgan claim 8 secs for the 4/4 don't they? What's going on? Nick

hi nick, I don,t read much into the 0 to 60 times, test conditions, no fuel in the car and a very light driver, not real at all. its how the car feels on the road that counts. and the smart just gets there. today I went for a test drive in two minis a john cooper works and a 2lt auto diesel, the john cooper was bloody fast and hit just over 134mph the diesel was also fast but not so much on the edge and hit just over the ton, both cars would drive all over the morgan, in the end went for the oil burner as it was auto and her in doors wanted auto, pity i wanted the JCW car. michael

My Cooper D would easily out perform my Mog - but RiTA is 36 years old... The MINI is better cornering, handling etc. and while there is a grin factor , that from the Mog is much bigger Cheers,

I think the grin factor and a positive driving experience should be the descerning factor in all comparissons. Many other cars out perform the mog- but performance alone on today's roads must be a secendary factor, the overall driving experience being the first. All the best, Tony

in the end went for the oil burner as it was auto and her in doors wanted auto, pity i wanted the JCW car. Agree that the auto box and the 2lt diesel suit each other very well - besides no Auto option with the JCW 211PS engine. But don't disregard the JCW on the basis of economy - I have got 42.5mpg from mine over 7,600 miles including the first fustrating 5,000 miles when the ECU strangles the engine on run-in mode and the economy and performance are both rubbish. In short, are you really sure you need an auto?

Re: Post 101497
Graham,You could have been right as now been adjusted. It was "biting" about 1/2" off the floor. Now bites about 1 1/4" and the gear change is better and a lot quicker especially at high rpm 6000+ But on full travel clutch to floor I now get a bus when a gear is engaged. No buzz if in neutral. (should I be worried?) TBH my garage had quite a job getting any adjustment out of it. Do all 4/4 clutches with the ford gear box. 9/2011 Car have such a low (near the floor) engagement. Does not seem right somehow, but having found that the Hard Top Hood fasteners have different threads left & right I guess anything is possible for a Morgan. Bob:)?
