The car is a 2011 Plus 4 sport with the duratech black top. Oil pressure gauge is showing full pressure (maxed out gauge) at low revs, and dips to about 5,5-6 when the revs are around 4000.

I'm thinking a sensor is loose or "out" in some way. Anyone who can point me in the direction of where the sensor is located on the duratech?

I'm going to take it in to the dealer over the weekend, but would like to see if it's something easy I can fix myself.

Do your other gauges read correctly?

Yes, the others read correctly, also the temperature is fairly constand around 80-85. Seems about right?

I'm thinking faulty sensor... unless someone has any experience with this?

From the first day, oil pressure is by me variable innocent
... high or medium but never low. I check carefully the oil level, I forget the display and go ! drive

Is it possible that on the later cars oil pressure gauges are not gauges at all? but are fed by an oil pressure switch? That would make them a visual representation of a low oil pressure light together with some ECU trickery to make them go up and down.

That's what modern MX5s (and no doubt many others) do.
