Sorry I put this topic in the wrong forum.

I discovered my hand brake cable had broken yesterday at the point of entry to the rear offside drum. Brands Hatch Morgan tell me this is not a normal regular problem! Has anybody else had any experience of this and has an understanding of the reasons why? It happened when I tried to apply the handbrake when I stopped on my drive!

Steve there are at least a couple of topics on here which may help out, covering both newer cars and those with a little more character.

My 4/4 Sport 2009 went earlier this year exactly where yours fractured, it was an agent job with seats out and gearbox tunnel/steering wheel etc.

If you look for Handbrake cable in the search box.
Good Luck

Thanks for the response, yes I have been told its a pain to change and impossible unless on ramps so its booked in. How much did yours cost?

I have searched under hand brake cable but couldn't find anything. Perhaps I am not searching correctly?

Or just click on it. doh

If you copy and paste this link you should be o.k. if not PM me and I'll send it through.

Cost £500 including first MOT just required headlamp beam adjust so I guess £400ish

I am nto sure you need ramps, I have an older car but was able to see (if not change) everything with it on the ground, axel stands could be used. OK ramp might be easier but....

Getting the seats, tunnels etc. out is a pain, but not hard.

Ok thanks for the bad news yes I was told its £75 part plus nearly a days labour. Still do not understand why it has happened. No doubt all will be revealed on Wednesday.

Unfortunately I need to be in Belgium on Friday so I do not have much flexibility. I did have it up on stands to have a look and as you say I have had the seats out before.

Even up on diy ramps at the front I struggled to see what was going on inside the gearbox tunnel from underneath - it was then I decided it was an agent job.

Whether the 4/4 Sport is lower than most 4/4 or I'm carrying too much investment around the midriff - I think I know the answer hide thumbs

Have a good trip to Belgium.

Many thanks; father in law is celebrating his 25 years with his Morgan. She has done 200k km and been all over Europe and North Africa. So there is a Morgan party on Sunday.
