Could also be Colin Chapman... grin2

Never driven a 4/4 Sport... The old 4/4 X-flow is fun, even though modern TDi vans can get away from roundabouts quicker... frown

There is a 4/4 running around somewhere with a 1.9 Peugeot diesel. I saw it a few years ago at a MidMog CT - last seen on Minilites and coloured blue...

That sounds like a hardcore Morganeer, Graham.
It must be used as a daily driver, don't you think?

I have seen it at a few Morgan car trials. Does very well up step hills.

Don't know.

I have a feeling there was a very short article about it somewhere in either Miscellany or possibly an early The Morgan World.

Cheers,

If you could get an engine that was light enough a 2 litre turbo diesel would fly. The current Alfa 159 has 170 CV and torque is 360 Nm at 1750 RPM. 0-100 km/h 8.8 sec (in the AR 159)

In a Plus 4, once the turbo boost cut in, it would go like a scalded cat.

Mind you the 1742 cc turbo petrol engine gets 200 CV and torque is 320 Nm at 1400 RPM. It weighs 60 kg less than the diesel. 0-100 km/h 7.7 sec

I think I would stick with the petrol engine.

To get back to this thread the downside is that the petrol engine consumes 8.1 litres per 100 km as against 5.1 of the diesel. With fuel now hitting 2 euros a litre in Italy that becomes a significant difference.

Certainly Peter.
Perhaps not an issue for those who put a few hundred mile a year on their leisure vehicle(s), but if you rack up the 'miles in ya Mog' fuel economy is going to matter more and more in the future, for sure.
