I used the search function but couldnt find anytrhing beside hints for folding the tonneau.

Which is the best way to fold the easy up hood? when i fold it it seems quite thick. When i close the tonneau the locks on the left and right seem to push through the tonneau ?

Any hints ?

Thanks, Peter

Not easy to describe in words. The section with the rear window tucks inside the remainder. I extend the hood clips inwards so they are low profile. It really needs some pictures!

I agree with Dave - difficult without actually showing the method. Make sure you've undone the poppers along the top of the frame inside the car (two each side) AND (more importantly) the side poppers (one each side). Fold the hood back and pull the top section of the hood out towards the back to make a flap. Lift the frame slightly and tuck the flap formed by the top back underneath. This will protect the rear window from any scratches. Finally tuck the side flaps back inside the car between the frame and the body. Et voila (or should that be "und hier"?)

Krossek, I had the same experience. The tonneau does not look good, so I do not use it.

As it happens, I lowered my hood tonight, and managed to take a slice out of my finger, so that's the first warning. ooo

So Step 1.......hood erect - open the doors slightly.

Step 2 ......Remove hood rail clips and two dot fasteners each side.

Step 3 ......VERY IMPORTANT - remove the tenax fasteners - one each side. Later cars have a press fastener here.

Step 4 ...... Lift the header rail. Note that I've added a small buffer each side. The hood rubs on itself quite badly here and after no time at all was shiny and semi-bald. I also use a small felt pad each side to cushion the contact patch.

Step 5 ..... Tip the frame back. I keep it rigid to clear the windstop.

Step 6 ....... Allow the window to fold in on itself. Slide a hand along the fold to ensure that it's straight.

Step 7 ....... When fully back it looks like this.

Step 8 ...... Fold the frame and draw the excess hood material back.

Step 9 ..... Lift the lower frame and fold this material into the fold of the rear window. Make sure that the fold is straight and pull it in tight.

Step 10 ...... looks like this.

Step 11 ..... to follow......

Step 11 ..... Push the screen rail clips as far inboard as you can. Tuck the B post flaps (with the Tenax fastener) under the folded side rails.

Step 12 ...... Being OCD, I like my hood cover, but it's the work of the Devil and is incredibly tedious to fit - and impossible to photograph while doing so without an assistant. So first open the envelope, lift the hood and slide the envelope over the hood, locating first one side bonnet catch, then the other. Next slide the lower section of the cover under the folded side rails, one side at a time. Now lift the hood again and secure the five poppers along the rear edge. Finally, pull tight and fasten one popper each side on the side rail covers.

And that's all there is to it. This is my way, not "the right way", which may vary in detail from "my way".
Regrets, I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention....... thumbs

DaveW that is exactly the way my dealer showed me how to do it. Thanks for posting this as I can refer back to it when I forget.

I hope your finger is ok.

Dunno Peter but something skinned my first finger left hand, on the inside, so not even the one that does all the work........
Might have been one of the the bonnet catches -an edge like MrsW's tongue - when riled.

Dave to prevent the rear window folding too much along a line I use an appropriate length of foam water pipe insulation. Trick passed on to me when I had an S2000 to help protect the rear window.(stops it getting a crease)
All fits fine into the hood cover.
Bob:)
