Well, I now have my new (ex cerealsurfer) tubular manifold and sporty exhaust fitted and it sounds fab, but I notice that the (wrapped) down pipes are quite close to the starter motor.
Should I be thinking about some form of heat shield between, there is maybe an inch gap between the body of the stater and the pipes, and a little less between the wire that runs along the top of the starter.
any thoughts, or suggestions welcome....

I once fried my alternator on a 1981 4/4 on a track day event. If you have the starter too close to the exhaust manifold, it might be a good idea to install a heat shield.

If you wade through the peripherals, this post was about insulating various bits & pieces. The starter motor doesn't need anything fancy, a simple wrap works, although you could make an aluminium shield and line it with foil. http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/38329/3

Glad to hear you have managed ok to get it fitted. It does sound quite cheeky for such a modest looking piece of kit.
The starter should survive ok, but a heat shield would probably help. The exhaust wrap is amaisingly effective!!!
