Well, I now have my new (ex cerealsurfer) tubular manifold and sporty exhaust fitted and it sounds fab, but I notice that the (wrapped) down pipes are quite close to the starter motor.
Should I be thinking about some form of heat shield between, there is maybe an inch gap between the body of the stater and the pipes, and a little less between the wire that runs along the top of the starter.

any thoughts, or suggestions welcome....

I once fried my alternator on a 1981 4/4 on a track day event. If you have the starter too close to the exhaust manifold, it might be a good idea to install a heat shield.

If you wade through the peripherals, this post was about insulating various bits & pieces.
The starter motor doesn't need anything fancy, a simple wrap works, although you could make an aluminium shield and line it with foil.

Glad to hear you have managed ok to get it fitted. It does sound quite cheeky for such a modest looking piece of kit.

The starter should survive ok, but a heat shield would probably help. The exhaust wrap is amaisingly effective!!!
