No - I suggested that they put on the new thicker mountings as on the newer cars - but this did not seem to be agreeable to them.
I just hope that the darned thing doesn`t go again - if it does I will be probably tempted to say " stuff -it" and have a non-heated screen put in and put up with the inconvenience of scrapers and clearing steam with an old towel.
But on the other hand if I paid for a model with a heated screen it should have one!
Good to hear from you Graham. - a bit of good news - I became a Grandad last night - a boy - so now a 2 year project to build a 1/3 scale pedal car replica of Megan!!

Congratulations Phil - and to the, no doubt, happy parents!

A one third scale Morgan rep. Excellent smile . I suspect Frank4x4 might chip in on that one...

Have to say I am not impressed with the company's response to the windscreen issue. I have no receipt for replacement screen in my 36 y.o. 4/4 and have had no problems in 7 years of ownership. It puts me off possibly looking for a 4/4 Sport to replace the Clubman eventually...

Congratulations too Phil. When mine were born I was amazed how much it meant to the grandparents. Enjoy.

Same here. Hand made verses hand assembled?

Graham, I've watched this thread with interest as I think it reflects badly on MMC. Where detail is given as to the location of the crack, it is always the left side of the screen which would suggest a design fault or fitness for purpose issue.

Does anyone know if there are any instances of non-damage related cracking to other parts of the screen?

In march returning from vacation if have found my 4/4 sport with the windscreen broken. The windscreen was changed by the garage Albert under warranty. They told me that it was not correctly mounted. The leather above the dashboard pushed too much on the bottom of the windscreen. They cut of the extra leather and placed the new windscreen back.If you dont do that each time you placed a new windscreen it will be broken again.

The replica will be hand - made - Chassis, wooden frame etc. - but will probably use a fair bit of GRP instead of aluminium as it is simpler to get the curves once a suitable mould has been made.
At the moment still in the planning stage - thinking around it.
Will probably cannibalise a bike for the drive mechanism as I think battery power is out - kids are too idle these days -so if they want to move they should expend some energy to do so.

Maybe we should move to Belgium - looks like better treatment there!

This has just appeared on GoMog...

WATCHPOINT: CRACKING 4/4 WINDSCREENS
There has been a rash of unexplained cracking windscreens for 4/4 Sports made since 2010. Owners would open their garages in the morning to find their windscreens cracked! Though these claims were settled by the company under warranty when they began, the Factory transferred warranty decisions and dealers were then instructed to refuse the claims and refer owners to their own car insurers. But iIrregardless of who pays, a backlog for heated windscreens quickly grew to three months. Happily, after two years the cause and cure has been found.
The 4/4 Sport uses different windscreen pillars from other classics. It curves slightly to accommodate the width of the screen. This part was newly made for the model and the curvature was thin enough to allow unfortunate flexing and therefore act as pressure springs when tightened. Replacement pillars, stronger and thicker at the curve have been made and this has (hopefully) resolved the problem. Replacem, etn 4/4 Sport windscreens are now delivered with the new pillars. (Make sure they are when your screen breaks!)

What about all those customers that had their warranty claims rejected and had to fork out themselves. They have had a pretty rough deal as this was clearly the fault of Morgan. No doubt the factory will write to those whose claims they rejected and offer to reimburse them? They damn well should do.
