Wood or leather steering wheel?
A few weeks ago we swapped over our walnut steering wheel, which was fitted temporarily until our leather steering wheel arrived from the UK. I liked the look of the walnut wheel but think the stone leather trimmed wheel really looks the business. I prefer the thicker leather rim as its more comfortable on longer drives. Thought I would post before and after photos for an informal poll - wood or leather, what's your preference (for a steering wheel)?

For me it would be wood with that dash. I have a non-wood dash so the leather (in my view) then looks better....

I like the look of the riveted wooden steering wheel.
I like the look and feel of the thicker walnut wheel.
However I find my leather one very comfortable, and no need for gloves.

Leather, black- matches the seats and door panels. Gear knob, aluminium (turned down from a Richbrook spherical shape to a cylinder with a domed top)

Leather -- My Plus4 came with a wooden wheel -- I drove it for all of one day before swapping it for a Simmonds Superspoke one!!
Best thing I have done -- much more comfortable and a better grip

Just changed mine from the thicker wooden one to a moto lita leather mark 4, much, much better, strangely I feel more in control (placebo probably). Definetly more comfortable to drive.

Wood.  Every car I drive has a thick padded leather wheel.... Except the Morgan. Not only does it look 'right' against the walnut dash, it also feels an authentic treat to handle.

I have seem a custom made wheel that has the thickness of the solid wheel and rivets. Looked really good.

Leather for me. The biggest mistake I made when specing the last Roadster was an alloy gear knob. Freezing in winter & too hot for comfort in hot weather (OK, that's not too much of a problem  ). After that, I avoid any hard finish on hand controls. Ian

One of the few 'pretty' accessories I fitted was a wooden gear knob. I'm still using the original leather covered steering wheel... Must stitch it where some has parted

One of the few 'pretty' accessories I fitted was a wooden gear knob. Yes, I did that. No one did a wooden gear knob for a mk1 Roadster, so I modified one from a +8. Caused all sorts of confusion in workshops 'cause the gear layout was wrong.
