I've seen this used by a mate in his Cobra but I'm now giving some thought to using it myself ( have already been using 'water wetter' on some occasions)
I'd run it according to the 'everyday use' regime rather than the 'racing application' which differs in terms of slight alterations which must be done to some parts of the system ( eg overflow pipes etc)
The big plus for me is that I've heard there is some evidence of head corrosion on the Zetecs so this would be a good preventative measure
and wondered if anyone on here had experience of it

G, I've not tried this, but don't modern antifreezes have corrosion inhibitors? Also, in my race engines I used to run 50% antifreeze with softened water because it acts as a whetting agent for improved cooling (i.e. minimises steam bubble formation on head and block cooling channels).  MZ

I'm sceptical of the advantages. All good normal antifreeze does have an inhibitor Bluecols veiw. I suspect an engine that is corroding probably should have had the antifreeze changed. Many folk don't do, or get this done. Demineralised water is produced by dehydrators so the trike always has demineralised water added. In a high chalk area such as mine, it's a very good thing to do.

Years ago we used inline ultrasonic tester for steel bars.
They used a water flow as an interface to bridge the gap between the transducer and the bar. We needed to add a wetting agent and used Teepol (a detergent) in a concentration of about 9ppm. It did the job really well and no foaming as it was in such low concentration. What it does is breaks down the intermolecular bonding in the surface layer that leads to surface tension - the force that causes water to form droplets. No need to go into more technical stuff - angle of contact etc! But it comes into the beading of water on a waxed car.

My father used to buy teepol in a large container and it was my job to decant it into pint bottles. Was used as a washing up liquid, long before Fairy became good for your hands.

Llanelli Radiators was a place I worked in for a while. The ultrasonics was at Duport Steel where we installed modern in-line test equipment for testing the billets at inspection.
As for antifreeze, it acts to lower the freezing point. A side effect is elevating the boiling point as well, and this, added to the pressurised system, raises the boiling point further so that a higher temperature can be managed. Modern antifreeze also has corrosion inhibitors but corect type is needed due to materials used in newer engines/cooling systems.

My father still lives there and my garden shed in Surrey has a Felin Foel dragon pub sign on it.
